"A transgender woman, who was registered at our CSC, had long desired to undergo Sex Reassignment Surgery (SRS) for feminization (Nirvan). She had previously worked as a sex worker, but in order to save enough money for the surgery, she left sex work and started doing odd jobs (Basti). However, her income drastically decreased, and she found herself struggling financially. Living alone, without support, she also had to manage the added burden of being HIV-positive, along with rent and other expenses."

Our upcoming initiatives

 Community Kitchen
and
Dubba Service

Transgender individuals often face significant discrimination and barriers to employment, limiting their economic opportunities. A community kitchen and dubba service run exclusively by transgender individuals would provide a sustainable livelihood, promote social inclusion, and challenge harmful stereotypes. By offering nutritious and affordable meals, this initiative will address food insecurity and contribute to the overall well-being of the community.

Shelter for Aging Transgender & Female Sex Workers

Many PLHIV in our communities, and aging transgender individuals lack safe and affordable housing, leaving them vulnerable to exploitation, discrimination, and health risks. A shelter specifically designed for these populations would provide a safe haven, essential services, and support networks. By addressing housing insecurity, the shelter would improve the quality of life for its residents and reduce their vulnerability to health disparities.

Vocational Skilling
and Capacity Building

Empowering transgender individuals with vocational skills is crucial for their economic independence and social inclusion. Training programs in agarbatti making, chocolate making, and saree selling would equip them with marketable skills, enabling them to start their own businesses or find gainful employment. By providing these opportunities, the program would challenge harmful stereotypes and create pathways for transgender individuals to achieve financial stability.
